This book is the first edition of the results of the research activity carried out by the author following his participation in the XI Cycle of 

the Doctorate in Architectural and Urban Design at the Politecnico

The text investigates the ways in which planimetric representation 

can be considered as a descriptive technique that lies

of reality, and the project, based on the re-elaboration of precise formal themes. The premise underlying the research gives the project a dual character: that of being, at the same time, an instrument of analysis 

and a logical compositional procedure. Through the techniques 

of repetition and variation, the relationship with the context, 

the references adopted have the opportunity to investigate the design mechanism that leads to the production of architectural form.
